01W EDITOR

Installation:

See 01WMANUAL for detailed setup guide.

Unzip the 01wedit.zip file. Create "01wedit" directory and place
01wedit.exe and all *.xpc and *.xpp files in the "01wedit" directory. This program is not
"hard wired" and you can place it also to any other directory you
create. Make sure that all the necessary .vbx and .dll files are
present in your Windows SYSTEM directory. Please check if you not
replacing the newer versions of commdlg.dll, cmdialog.vbx or
vbrun300.dll. If you already have those files, try to run 01wedit
with your existing vbx and dll files.

01wedit .zip contains:
       01wedit.exe - program
       Orchest.xpc - Rom Card settings (combis)
       Orchest.xpp - Rom Card settings (programs)
Controls:
       Controls:
       threed.vbx
       gauge.vbx
       midi1.vbx  10/09/96
       vslide1.vbx 08/27/96
       vindic1.vbx 10/11/96

     cmdialog.vbx - if you already have this file in your
                      windows/system - don't replace it.
Other necessary files not supplied:

      commdlg.dll
      vbrun300.dll

The editor features the following editing windows/modules:

Program Edit
Program Effect 1, 2 and Mix Edit
Combination Edit
Combination Effect 1, 2 and Mix Edit
Drum Kit Edit
Global Edit
C.C. tools

Configuration:
    First, I recommend that you backup your 01W memory by using
sysex dumper utility software so you can undo any unwanted changes
in 01w programs ,combinations, etc. Make sure that your 01w is setup
properly: In the 01w's global settings change Midi Filter to
 Program-enabled
 Controller-enabled
 After Touch -enabled
and most important:
 Exclusive-enabled

Adjust GLOBAL channel in the editor to the same
number as the 01w's .

IMPORTANT: If you running 01wedit for the first time, make sure that
you make a selection for both MIDI SETUP and GLOBAL CHANNEL.
The demo version of 01wedit is fully functional, however it has build
in counter I apologize for that, but this program took a lots of afford
to develop, and you may agree that asking for $25.oo is fair, especially
if you consider the time you going to save by developing the new sounds
for these great machines within minutes, something that would take
hours to setup. I let my program "speak" for itself...

To register your copy of 01wedit please write to the following address
and send a cheque or money order payable to Intelligent Office Solutions Inc.
for only 25.oo$ US plus 3.oo $ for shipping or equivalent in cash (exchangeable
currency please - I don't have any bad experience with receiving cash
in the mail) and you will receive 3.5" disk with the complete program.
No shipping charge for sending program or program's registration code via
email. If you would like to inquire more about payment or shipping
options, please write to alands@atcon.com or alands@auracom.com.

program via email, ftp or http.

 Here are some hints:

-You can find three main modules in the 01wedit program: Program,
combination and Drum Kit.

- If you press "Program" or "Combination" in the main window you
will get 2-4 windows representing 01w banks -two windows for bank A
and B and if you have Ram/Rom cards: 2 for bank C and D.
The selection of Ram/Rom cards can be done by pulling down CARDS
menu of the main window.
In the demo version I preloaded only the settings for Orchestral XSC-2S
card. If you have any other cards you use please indicate them on your
order and I will preload them for you.
Unfortunately 01w does not transmit any information about the cards in
its slots so they have to be written manually into the program.
- On the main 01wedit window there is a toolbar with the icons
representing all available functions related to the current mode.
The description of this functions is displayed on the bottom of the
window.
To get the 01w bank's info from the 01w click on the "dump to computer"
icon. after receiving the dump the 01wedit will display the contents of
the banks in the banks window.
IMPORTANT: When receiving large dumps (Program Banks or Combination
Banks) try not to move your mouse pointer. On the slower computers, all
the resources may be redirected to handle the display and the computer
may not catch all of the sysex bytes. Normally this should not happen
but if it does the program will not ignore any incomplete dumps.
You can continue to edit selected (current) program by pressing "Edit
program" button and opening various 01w parameter windows.
The "Combination" module works in similar way as a "Program". The
difference is that you get only one window displaying all current
combination parameters. To change the combination settings double click
on any Combination's parameter tables.

Note: The program and combination names from A and B banks are stored
by 01wedit and updated automatically whenever you dump banks to and
from 01w. When you make any changes to the contents of the banks outside the editor you should update the 01wedit by "dump banks to the computer" function

During the design of this program I failed to successfully extract
single programs or combinations from the 01w bank dumps. This is due
to a strange way of compressing the data by the 01w. I could not
find any logical pattern there, so after the great amount of frustration
I gave up this idea and instead I suggest to use program called
"Change it!" as a librarian to organize programs within the banks. This
program was written by Jurgen MoBgraber from Germersheim, Germany. and it
work fine but sometimes it creates *.syx file with a incorrect checksum
that causes "Dump Error" on the 01W. You can correct that by using
"Correct Change it!" file function that you can find in 01wedit's main
window file menu.

If you edit Drum Kits 1 and 2 make sure that first you select a program
from bank A. Select any program from bank B if you going to edit kit 3
and 4.

MIDI SETUP:

 Midi Out box - selects window's midi out interface which is used to send
commands and data to the 01W.
 Midi In Box - selects window's midi in interface which is used to
receive dumps from 01W.
 Midi In Keyboard - selects window's midi in interface that acts like
a midi through. If you using 01W/R sound module you can use external
keyboard or controllers to play notes.

In this demo program I did not include "Piano" module to play notes.
You can get this module with registered program if you think it may be
useful for you (Please specify this option on your order)
But you can play the notes to hear the changes made by the editor
using computer keyboard.

PLAYING COMPUTER KEYBOARD:

-Letters Q W E R T Y U I O P select the octave (transpose computer keys)
Example Q = C0, W = C1 etc.
Active keys are:
X=C
D=C#
C=D
F=D#
V=E
B=F
H=F#
N=G
J=G#
M=A
K=A#
,=B
.=C + OCTAVE
-You can play up to 3 notes at the same time.
Important: This feature works in all of the Editing screen but it is
being automatically turned off if it collides with a controls that
also use computer keyboard input (e.g. some combo boxes). To turn it
on again click/highlight different control like sliders, command
buttons etc.
-Make sure that controller transmit channel is properly selected using
 joystick's setup
-Joystick's slider adjusts velocity of the notes.
3) Mouse-Joystick
This feature allows you to use continuous controllers (refer
 to 01w manual for information about use of midi controllers)
-Make sure that controller transmit channel is properly selected using
 joystick's setup
-Joystick is easy accessible on all of the 01Wedit editing screens by
 pressing F3 function key (Piano - F2).
-Press "S" button to setup joystick functions.
-You can setup the joystick to send two different midi controller data
 at the same time (Vertical and horizontal position of the mouse).
-Slider adjusts velocity of the notes.
-Auto Reset button sets the joystick in two modes. When Auto On the
 joystick automatically resets controller value.
-If you play external keyboard the bargraph will indicate velocity of
 the notes.

Thank you for trying 01Wedit. For more information, with any questions,
